P.O.W.E.R.: Police Officer Wellness by Enhancing Resiliency Part 2

This course is instructed by Marie Ridgeway MSW, LICSW, CCTP, RYT, Adv. ART Certified. Marie is a Trauma Treatment Specialist and Police Therapist. She and her staff provide therapy and various wellness services for over 45 MN public safety agencies including Blaine PD where the P.O.W.E.R. model originates. Marie is joined by multiple active duty Law Enforcement Officers in this presentation.

For therapists to understand how to effectively work with law enforcement and incorporate aspects of the Police Officer Wellness by Enhancing Resiliency Program into practice. This training includes a discussion of PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Substance Use Disorders, trauma treatment modalities, and the unique clinical knowledge and themes related to law enforcement officers as clients.

Building on the foundational instruction in Part 1, POWER Part 2 dives deeper into practical occupational information, clinical themes, and strategies for efficient and effective care. This training includes first-hand stories from Law Enforcement Officers who have experienced acute stress on the job, an introduction to police gear and tactics, and an understanding of what police experience during critical incidents. This course will explain many of the components of the Police Officer Wellness program model we've developed including effective approaches to mental health check-ins and ways to teach about healthy police families. Useful clinical interventions will be discussed along with the tools and technical details to effectively work with Law Enforcement in your private practice.

Cost: $299 per attendee. Cost includes P.O.W.E.R. Program materials (once attendees are trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy) and 3 months of our monthly virtual consultation group.

3 Monthly Consultation Groups Follow-Up This Course and are Included in the Cost. The dates for these 50 minute virtual groups are below and are subject to change but will generally be as follows: Dec 20025, Jan 2026, Feb 2026 (Fridays)

Marie Ridgeway MSW, LICSW, CCTP, RYT

Marie is a Master's Level mental health clinician with a specialty in treating stress injuries (PTSD) and the secondary challenges that commonly occur (anxiety, depression, panic attacks, substance abuse, relationship challenges). Marie and her staff of occupationally competent clinicians focus on working with Public Safety personnel in over 40 public safety agencies in the state of MN.

Marie has worked in the field for over 15 years. She has worked with and trained thousands of law enforcement officers across the state. Marie brings knowledge and skills from her diverse work experience that includes child protection and psychiatric crisis team emergency response, and in her current roles that include SWAT negotiation team clinical consultant and Wellness Programming Consultation.

Marie utilizes a variety of methods for trauma treatment including eye movement therapy (Accelerated Resolution Therapy). Marie is honored to be providing specialized care and consultation to those in public safety who serve our communities. Outside of work, Marie is active and outdoors as much as possible running, hiking, and traveling with her two children (ages 12 and 14). Marie is assisted in her practice by her 18 month old German Shepherd, Charlie.
